There are many Truhittes buried in Star Cemetery. Star is where the Truhittes settled when they moved from Arkansas. Benjamin and Sarielda were 14 or 15. They were married in Arkansas and then accompanied to Star MO by his father. I can't find my notes to be sure. The best way is to visit the cemetery and write down all the Truhitte information. The oldest is the father. Imogene has info on the Truhittes in her bible. It was either Imogine or Blanche or Jewel who told me about the Truhittes coming from Arkansas.

When I was scanning some Family Tree Makers at the library, I noticed that my grandfather was listed on some other sites as having been married twice. Several long distance calls to older cousins confirmed what I believed. No one in my family is aware of any second marriage and I believe the listing of Mary Jane Stockton belongs to the other William Trewhitt.
William L. TREWHITT, my great grandfather changed the spelling of his name to TRUHITTE because of family problems. I was always told there was an inheritance in England. The families pooled money to send one brother to England to collect the inheritance. He never returned. William was a Baptist preacher and that alone should preclude his being married twice. I know Martha Ann came with him to Missouri
He was born 15 January, 1823 in Morgan County Tennessee, moved to Arkansas, then to Barry County, Missouri in the late 1870's. He died 8 April, 1909, when my father was 9 years old. His only wife was Martha Ann West born 1828 in Indiana. I don't have her date of death at my fingertips just now.
They are listed in the 1880 Barry County Missouri Census along with son, James age 33 and daughter Martha Ann age 13. My grandfather, Benjamin R. Truhitte and his wife, Sarelda (Sarrilda/Sarilda/Srieldia/Sherilda) Francis Guffey lived on adjoining property. All of them moved to Barry County together and homesteaded land there.
William's sister, Mary Ann Trewhitt, had two sons, John 1847 and Winfield Scott 1849 without benefit of marriage. She changed the spelling of her two sons' names to Truitt.
I am unable to tell for sure how Sarelda's name was spelled. She apparently was unable to write although I've been told she read the Bible through two times. I've seen her name spelled each of the above ways. I can't even tell for sure from the Bible!
